Why to go to Cuba?

From ridingcuba.com we invite you to visit Cuba in a different way, riding horses in Cuba is an experience that you can’t explain but we want to share with you some of the main reason to go.

  • Landscape. In Cuba, almost the all riding we do is in Natural and Biosphere reserves, natural landscapes and protected areas characterized by their excellent state of preservation and features unique to the region. Moreover, the indigenous flora consists of more than 6,300 varieties displayed in a riot of different colors and shapes.
  • Traditional Cuban music. Cuba is music for this reason each evening after we ride we will be greeted at our hotel by at least 4 musicians. There is also the option to visit the Casa de La Trova-Artex at Viñales, with famous Cuban rum, and we will experience unforgettable evenings during our stay at the Caribbean Pearl.
  • A stunning automobile park. There are an estimated 60.000 vintage cars still in Cuba.  After 50 years many of the American cars are still on the road due to excellent preservation.  They have been cherished by their owners who have patched them up with Russian and Chinese tractor parts. They can be seen rolling up and down Cuban streets together with European or Asian vehicles and the Ladas, Moskvitchs and Volgas imported by the communist regime. One of the top attractions in this wonderful country is the amazing automobile park we will visit during our trip, where we can see many fine examples of these vintage vehicles.
  • The food on this trip is mainly organic and free from GM products. Cuban produce is very healthy. Most of what we eat on the days we ride is organic, as is almost everything the Cubans eat.

During our stay in the shelter of the Mil Cumbres and at La Finca La Guabina, we will eat products from its farms which belong to the state enterprise ‘Flora y Fauna’.  The rice, vegetables, fruit, chicken, pork and beef, all have a wonderful flavour.

As for fish, Cuba is the country of the langouste so you will often find these on the menu, together with shrimp and other seafood.

  • Havana: The capital of Cuba offer us visiting the historic and cultural old town of Havana is a unique experience which you will always remember. The UNESCO restoration project, transforms La Habana Vieja (Old Havana)—a World Heritage Site—into a living museum of colonial architecture.

With an architectural heritage spanning more than five centuries, old Havana is a virtual time machine of styles and techniques, inside which visitors can experience the commotion of daily street life.

Havana has a wide variety of museums: The bustling streets of Havana form a living museum that reveal much about its modern history. The Museo de la Revolución, Museo de Arte Colonial, and the Museo de la Ciudad de la Habana offer many insights into why the city looks the way it does.

Habana is almost literally made of music. Musicians, musicologists, and music lovers are the rule rather than the exception in Cuba. In the city’s plethora of bars, café, patios, restaurants, rooftops, terraces, and clubs, dozens of sounds and rhythms pulsate around the clock.

In addition to this there are the beaches of Playas del Este, a string of white-sand beaches 20 km (12 mi) east of Havana which are good for swimming and are yet another reason to travel to this beautiful island during the winter season.
